Question:
Which widescreen TV is the best to get with the longest lifespan, Plasma, LCD or Projection?

We are wanting to buy a new big screen TV around a 50" to a 57" and after looking at the Plasma, LCD and Projection TV's we still can't decide. We have been told bad things on them all as far as their lifespan and cost to keep them up. We do know we will get an extended warranty with the one we purchase. We like the Plasma's picture best. But, we do watch a lot of TV daily. Around 10 hours and some of the same channels for several hours on some days. So was concerned about the logos on the bottom of some channels burning into the Plasma TV screens and we have heard the lifespan of a Plasma is from 4 to 7 years. Any information on the Plasma, LCD or Projection widescreen TV's would be truly appreciated. And on their expected lifespans and just overall quality. Seems like ever store we go into every sales person tells us something different.
Thank you.

The longest lasting with no maintenance will be a LCD screen.

DLP sets will last the longest, but you will have to replace the bulb occasionally.

I would go DLP, it is cheaper, and there is no problem with burn in

I have a samsung 50 inch plasma, we purchased the 5 year warranty on it that cover literally everything except damage from someone hitting or dropping it. Its rated and warrantied to 60,000 hours to half brightness. As far as burn in from logos, 10 hours a day with the logo never moving won't burn in. It took 3 days of a paused video game(forgot to turn it off) didn't even burn in tghe image. Im very partial to plasma because a 50 inch is cheaper and has a better picture than a comparable size lcd. and as for maintanence, all you have to do it wipe it down with a soft lint free cloth, you don't need to recharge it like some people say. Hope it helps you.

i suggest getting an LCD because it lasts the longest and shows second best. Plasma lasts for around 5-7 years LCD lasts for 15-20 years. forget about projection its garbage.

An LCD display is likely to have the longest life, and a projection type the shortest. But any set you buy may well become obsolete before it wears out.
