As of December 2009, the TV Broadcast in the Philippines is still Analogue and the Government still decide on which Digital Broadcast standard will be used in our Country. Will it be the European Standard (DVB-T) or the Japanese standard (ISDB-T). We waited for the decision but not yet finalized, why is it so long to decide? who will decide and when the final Decision take place?

Please i need your answers everyone, because we are far behind all the Asian countries that are already broadcasting in digital.

Thank You, and God Bless!!!

Originally, it was supposed to be DVB-T but in 2007 the NTC said it will consider other options.

Right now, it is ultimately unclear why the NTC reconsidered its firm stand in favour of DVB-T but I read somewhere that the Japanese government offered to provide some assistance in setting-up/procuring the equipment if the Philippines chose ISDB-T.

In addition, most commercial networks and the KBP favour DVB-T but the government- and INC-run (NET25 and GEM-TV) prefer ISDB-T.

At this point, we may be tempted to think that its 50-50 but the previous user could be right that politics may play a role and trump practical considerations. My 2 cents: remember that major commercial networks have been at odds with the government when it comes to news reporting so don't be surprised if the NTC adopts something the commercial media doesn't prefer.

1 ) Other Asian countries .

Singapore which also uses DVB-T for HDTV broadcasts. but still not final when will be totally switch over to digital DVB-T.

Malaysia Plans to abandon PAL broadcast by 2015 by DVB-T.

Indonesia PAL broadcast to be abandoned by 2018; simulcast in DVB-T since 2008

Brunei / Thailand DVB -T is on test. no news about switch over.

Vietnam / Cambodia / Laos / East Timor / Myanmar even do not " think " about digital Broadcast

2 ) Philippines Plans NTSC broadcast to be abandoned by December 31, 2015,** simulcasting ISDB-Tb, DVB-T or ATSC ** BECAUSE OF >

Political issue / relationships matter.

Why Philippines use NTSC TV Systems ? , because Relationships with USA in the history.that Why Malaysia / Singapore select PAL TV systems from the first day. because relationships With UK for more than 100 years.

Philippines stand into " funny position " at this moment. to day . your need to make Friends / BUSINESS with every body. 70 years ago is " beyond Control ". need USA support more than other. like South Korea. there select NTSC .

if select DVB-T or ISDB is make the " big brother " not so happy. South Korea is the second countries after USA to use ATSC.

to day . Philippines need support from Japan .select other system make Japanese may think about next investments ? . more than 100 Japan manufactures in Philippines.

In technically . ATSC is more easy for those countries who use NTSC systems and totally switch over to digital.( is one of the main reason *.) IS BENEFIT TO USER who own an old tv.

Still 5 more years to go ! Philippines will make final decision only after the New President on Board that for sure. i think ..... will be ATSC !

* the answer is based on personal point of view *

I Want DTV is ATSC because Like more Channels for Example like

DWKC-DT Channels 31.1 for JACK City & 31.2 for JACK TV

and DWCP-LP Channels 37.1 for UNTV & 37.2 The Old Path Channel but i don't want the DVB-T & ISDB-T because there no VHF Channels in 2016
