Has anyone else experienced a problem with Samsung LCD HDTV?

Samsung LNT4665F 46 inch hdtv is what i bought and it did not display picture but there was sound. So futureshop replaced the broken tv with a new, same model tv. This time, there is a long purple vertical line and like a big black square where the line starts at the top...

I've noticed that the black square box went from a square to a rectancle... and the purple line has gotten a bit thicker. this occured not even a week after receiving the replacement Am i experiencing something called a "dead pixel"?

Has anyone had a similar problem with this model or any other samsung high definition tvs?

I can get another replacement of the same model or get a sony bravia.. they are about the same price, but the samsung looks so much sleek and nicer compared to sony..but at the same time I've heard sony is very durable...

help me out please!

Samsung is not a bad television, and I have had problems with Sony's, which are way over priced.

Each has its pros and cons. Plasma Pro: 1. Colors are more vibrant. 2. Pictures are brighter. 3. Black looks black on plasma. 4. Plasma is better for large TVs (but LCD is getting close). Plasma Con: 1. Gets hot. 2. Very expensive. 3. More likely to have burn-ins. LCD Pro: 1. Cheaper than plasma. 2. Doesn't get as hot as plasma. 3. 170 degree viewing angle. 4. Less chance of burn-ins. 5. I think it lasts longer than plasma (but I'm not 100% sure). LCD Con: 1. Colors aren't as vibrant. 2. Black looks like it's grey. 3. Large screen LCD can be quite expensive. 4. Dead spots. Dead spots are when the LCD light doesn't work anymore, so you'll see a black spot where the light went out. A Best Buy employee told me that it can be quite expensive to get it repaired. Basically he said the whole screen has to be replaced. I'm not sure if he's lying or not because I think he was trying to sell me the extended warranty. I personally have an LCD TV, and the 360 plays fine on it. I chose LCD over plasma mainly because of the price. Why spend almost 2000 bucks on a plasma when I can spend about 1300 on a similar size LCD (This was several years ago, so back then, HD TVs were expensive.).

I remember seeing a programme on t.v. where this guy owned a hotel or motel and he was so incensed with Sam-Sung T.V's performance he had in his rooms, that he called the media, then threw every T.V. into the lake in front of the camera's!
