The original cable systems were based on RG59 but Sat systems and Broadband systems use higher frequency signals so now RG6 is the standard.

Coax has ... many measurements. The first one engineers look for is the "Bandwidth" or "-3db Attenuation frequency".

Basically: they roll out 100 feet of the coax then start shoving higher and higher frequencies in one end, and measuring how much of the signal is reduced or "attenuated" at the other end. The highest frequency that shows 50% drop in signal strength is called the "-3db Attenuation" or the "Bandwidth Limit".

An engineer would look at the signals he wants to send down the coax, find the highest frequency he would ever want to send, then find a coax that has a bandwidth at least 2 times this max frequency.

MY ADVICE: Go to BlueJeansCables and let them whip up some Belden wires for you. Belden makes some of the best coax and BlueJeans will put good connectors on the ends for you.

Coax is for analogue RF transmission (i.e. antenna cable), which would be strange for any kind of 4k connection, which usually runs via HDMI or a similar digital link.

The only application I can think of right now is for DVB between antenna and tuner. In which case, any cabe that has the correct impedance, right connectors, good shielding and low loss (in that order, unless we're talking about long runs > 20 meters/yards).

A bit more information about where exactly you want to use that cable might give you better responses.

coax cable is used for RF transmission... like antenna or lnb ...

check the attenuation factor.....for example... rg6 .. 75 ohms .. 6 db per 100 ft on 1000 mhz ... compare them ... the lowest is the best ...

Bonded foil plus 95% braid.
