Im looking to buy an antenna so i can get the free local channels. What am i looking for, like what specifications on the box do i look for so i can get the best quality and more channels? Its those antennas that have the bunny ears and the little circle loop in the middle and plugs into the ac adapter for power.

If you are very close to the transmitting station, the rabbit ear antennas work. Digital signals are more direct than the old analog signals, and even a building next door can deflect the signal.

Try the rabbit ears and see how they work for you. They're really cheap; a good set is around $25. You may need to go with a rooftop antenna. Here is a site that will tell you, based on your specific address, what the best roof top antenna is for your situation.

Is this for HDTV signals?

One very well respected indoor antenna is the Phillips Silver Sensor - Classic version which you can get on-line for about $20-$25 or at Frys for about $30. I have loaned mine to several people at work after I hear they just bought a new HDTV and most of them run out and buy their own.

The Antenna Web site is great and will tell you if you can use an indoor or need an outdoor antenna and list all the TV towers around your home.

If you need an outdoor antenna - check out the Wineguard brand.
