I have a new Proscan flat screen TV and I just bought a used DVD player. I hooked up the green, blue and red video cables, and I hooked up the white and red audio cables.

The DVD player looks like its playing the DVD, but I don't see it on the screen. I tried turning the TV to channel 3, or channel 6, but no screen or audio image from the DVD is showing...can you help?

Thanks ! ! ! ! ! !

Change your input selection on the TV. Could be Video 1, Video 2, AUX, game or something like that but definitely will not be a numbered channel. This will be a menu function, probably easiest to access from the remote. You may find that the RGB jacks that you plugged in to are labeled with the name of the input.

Those RCA jack you are using does not do justis on your new tv. That can only transmit the 280P. Look in your player and see it it provide you a component cable output for the video and also check to see it it provides an optical audio output. The component cable is color coded in Red, Green and Blue, 3 rca jacks. This will provide you a better picture of 480P. Due to the age of your player it might be worthy for you to purchase a blu ray disc player. I would recommend a Panasonic, they are the most reliable player in the market today and always being recommend by Home Theater Magazine. I still use my first generation player model BD-10 which is over 4 years old and played over 300 blu ray disc movies on it. Best Buy carries the Panasonic BD-75 and is priced at around $80. Hope this will help you out.
