Matsui Plasma TV backlight failure?

My 2 year old Matsui tv picture gradually darkened to the point I couldn't adjust it anymore.Im told it may be a backlight burnout ,is this repairable?

I would guess that if it is repairable (doubtful) the cost would almost certainly be excessive in relation to the value of the TV.



Matsui is a DSG (Currys etc) brand in the UK. Did you take out an extended warranty? If so take it back.



If not you could still take it back to the store and claim some recompense or repair on the basis that a TV should last more than 2 years before failure. This is within UK consumer law - see the appropriate website - I think it is Consumer direct or similar. The seller's liability extends beyond the usual 12 month guarantee, although the store will dispute this. Read up the law and quote it to them - in fact print it off and show them.

Whoever told you that knows nothing about televisions. Plasma TVs do NOT have back-lights.



In a plasma TV, each individual cell is charged by an electrical current, causing it to light up.



In an LCD TV the entire screen is back-lit, either by fluorescent tubes (which will burn out over time) or in the case of the most modern LCD televisions, by LEDs.

dear normally no requirement but better for eye to use this light in all tec.
