Sorry if these are stupid questions, but I want to make sure I do this correctly!

Just bought a new LED Samsung TV. Do I still connect my old dvd recorder via scart lead or do I connect it with an HDMI lead? Is there any particular scart lead that is better than the other?

Also I have a blu ray player. I presume I connect an HDMI cable to that and to the TV? Any particular HDMI cable you recommend?

Also I have SKY TV. I won't need an HDMI cable for the Sky Box will I? Because all I do is plug my arial which is connected to SKY in the back of my TV - is that correct?

HDMI is the way to go will give the best sound and picture quality. You dont need to go out and buy the best ones out in the store they all work. Just buy the one that you need according to length you need ,distance from tv. you can pick HDMI cables up at walmart for 20 bucks or less.If sky tv is anything like direct tv just have the coxial cable screw into box from dish then from the box use HDMI if have that output or rca jacks what ever you were using no need to go out and buy extra cables. hoped this helped

The terrestrial aerial should be plugged into the Sky box IN socket and then one of the Sky box aerial OUT sockets "looped through" the DVD recorder with a 'jumper' (sometimes called a fly lead) so that the recorder can pick up the off-air Freeview. Connect the aerial OUT socket of the DVD recorder to the television set with another aerial jumper.

DVD recorder: connect with SCART lead. Use a "fully-wired" one with gold plated connectors instead of a very cheap one (£5-£10). This is an analogue system and the quality of the cable and its plugs does affect the quality of the picture. The gold plating resists corrosion so this lead should be "fit and forget". It should cost less than £20 /metre for a decent one.

If your DVD recorder provides "upscaling" it will have a HDMI socket. You could use this to get a small improvement in the viewing quality of your DVDs but it will Not be HD (you can't add definition that isn't there in the first place).

Blu-ray player: connect to telly with a HDMI cable. Because this is an all-digital system it is not so prone to picture deterioration if you use a cheap lead. Try not to spend very much on your HDMI lead if it's a metre or less long, you won't get any benefit. The aerial cable does not have to be looped through the Blu-ray player.

Sky box: if it is a Sky HD box you must connect it to the telly with an HDMI cable. If it is not a Sky HD box then use a SCART cable. You will not be any doubt if your Sky box is HD. The Sky box has two SCART sockets so connect the other one to the DVD recorder. Specifications of the SCART cable should be the same as the one used for DVD recorder-televison link.

Most Sky boxes provide their outputs through SCART and also on a UHF analogue channel through the aerial lead. It is possible to watch the box's output by switching the telly to analogue mode and doing a channel search. This will provide you with an alternative way to watch satellite television if you don't have a SCART connector available.

The old DVD recorder can use an RGB compatible SCART lead, but you may want to go with component or HDMI if you can. You use an RGB or Aux type cable to connect it to the Sky box to record.

A non HD Sky box can connect with an RGB type SCART. An HD box you use HDMI.

For HDMI, you usually don't need any particular one, so get what you can afford.

The only thing you should be connecting to the Aerial termial on the TV is an Aerial, if you want to watch Freeview.

It relies upon on how plenty you presently spend on your telephone invoice superb now. There are literally reward to having a VoIP telephone line, yet there are additionally some issues to observe out for... a million) Do you reside in a close-by the place E911 provider is already presented? this suggests that in case you dial 911 out of your Vonage telephone, you're able to get related to you interior of reach 911 operator. not all areas have it. 2) Do you remember at your residence line for extreme verbal replace? in spite of if maximum VoIP companies are starting to be extra desirable at this (extremely Vonage), there are nevertheless situations while their provider could be interrupted. in case you place self belief of their provider, it is undesirable. 3) Does Vonage grant interior of reach numbers on your section? I ask simply by fact regrettably they don't grant interior of reach numbers the place I stay, and as quickly as I had them, it meant that surely everyone calling me had to dial long distance. Having stated all that, i think of it is nicely nicely certainly worth the change. i've got had VoIP for approximately 2 years now, and that i individually like it. often times the call high quality could be somewhat uneven, or the sound would be somewhat at the back of schedule, yet not too undesirable frequently. finally, once you're finding to make the change on account which you're making a great form of long distance calls to different countries, it is beneficial to look at a pair of different VoIP carriers like Lingo or Sunrocket, who grant the two loose long distance to Europe, or a month-to-month credit in the direction of international calls. If and once you're making the change, you're able to do somewhat analyze on the thank you to make all the telephone jacks at your residence artwork with your new VoIP line. it is not confusing. perhaps submit yet another question once you're arranged? :-)
