at a reasonable level you have to turn the volume up almost as far as it will go. I have tried to adjust the volume on the TV itself and on the cable as well but nothing is helping. I heard from someone that buying an upgraded cable wire can fix this problem. Does anyone know anything about this??

in this situation since u still can hear audio cming out, tat means no problem wif yr connections.. so tat means u dun need to waste cash to buy a beta cable cos a beta audio cable only gives u much more 'improved' sound field quality.. my suggestions is u go to the 'master' or 'factory' restored setting & reset yr tv once..all TVs hv this settings.. this is very common trouble-shooting cos whenever we tends to buy a 'NEW BABY'(tat means yr TV), we tends to meddle wif it & smtimes un-intentionally press sm functions we shouldn't touch on : ) jt like a brand-new HP we always meddle wif, then in e end sm trouble-shootings..bt as long as we use e 'master' or 'factory' settings, e HP will go bk to the original defaulted settings AGAIN & be as gd as new : ) same goes to yr 'new baby' also.. pls try tat & let me knw.... : )

Try different audio cables. It could be your audio cables, it could be the box, or it could be the TV. First, make sure it's not the TV because you only have so long to return a new item. The best way to check that is by connecting the cable from the wall to the TV. Also, you could try a DVD.

Most lcd's or plasmas don't have great sound to begin with. Monster cables can help some, but over all if you want good or great sound you're going to need a sound system.
