Looking to buy a Panasonic Plasma TV but one of the models is advertised everywhere as 'Full HD' whereas none of the others state that. They seem to be 'HD Ready'. What is the basic difference please?

HD Ready means that the television will display HD pictures when the set is fed from an external HD source. This would be either a Sky HD box, a Freesat HD box, a Virgin HD box or a Blu-ray player.
The HD Ready television set is not capable of receiving HD broadcasts directly. No television set currently sold in the UK can receive HD terrestrial broadcasts without an external box because there aren't any and their built in digital tuners are not capable of it anyway.
Panasonic make a model of television which has a built in Freesat HD receiver. This tv is capable of receiving and showing HD pictures without any external device except a satellite dish. They describe this as "Full HD" but that is just copying American advertising practice and is confusing (you're not the only one to be confused).
The term "Full HD" is something that has come from America and seems to mean almost anything that you want it to mean. Usually in the UK it just means that the set can show pictures in 720p/1080i/1080p. Most modern televisions can do that so you shouldn't worry about it. There are not any 1080p images transmitted anyway, nor will there be. It's a standard that is limited to Blu-ray and games consoles.

Full HD in the UK means that the resolution of the tv is 1920x1080. At the moment for broadcasts and Blu-rays this is the highest resolution you can watch. In the industry you can obviously film at higher resolutions but what we watch on TV and Blu-ray won't be higher than 1920x1080.
HD ready basically means it is ready to accept and display a high definition resolution but that resolution could be anything from 1024x768 and upwards. This resolution and others is often referred to as 720p.
If you are wanting more in depth information about tvs before buying then this site is extremely helpful:

It explains why different resolutions are better for different viewing needs.
Hope that helps!

you're asking about 2 different things, like orange and apple. Full HD means it can display image resolution of 1080p format (currently highest available); Plasma is a technology of the screen of your TV, it has millions of tiny bulbs comprise of a plasma screen while LCD screen (liquid crystal display) is comprise of liquid screen. Both plasma and lcd can carry resolutions equivalent to full HD. So when you shop for HDTV, you'll see either plasma TV or LCD TV. Each technology has its own advantages and disadvantages.
