Do I really need an antenna, shouldn't it have its own antenna I keep doing the auto preset scan theres 3 options on channel setup but it says "no signal." I'm so confused a while back i was at my moms and I could of sworn her tv had its own antenna and could just pick up basic cable channels.

Please help me its my first dtv, I bought it at the pawn shop so haha it doesn't have a manual nor did I ask dumb me.

Yes, you need an antenna to receive OTA (over-the-air) TV signals. If you are relatively close (distance) to a few broadcast transmitters, you may be able to receive a signal with a small indoor antenna. Your location (and other factors) will help determine what type of antenna you can use.

There are many websites available to get easy-to-understand information about DTV, from how OTA signals work to what kind of antenna to use at your location. Also, you can find out what broadcasts you should be able to receive in your area.

Yes, you need an antenna. No, they don't come with the TV (except for tiny portable sets that actually don't work very well.)

The antenna you need depends on where you are. That could be anything from a very simple indoor antenna to a deep-fringe array mounted on a mast above your roof.

If you want to edit your question with your Zip code, I can give you a general answer on the minimum type of antenna you'd need. Or, if you want to research it yourself, enter your local info in the website below.

YES. You need an ANTENNA. How many times do you need to ask the same question?

The antenna needs to be on your roof if it is to serve it's purpose, certainly not indoors.
