I have a Sharp 37 inch TV. Whenever I've connected the xbox, using the high definition cables and setting the cable to HD, there was video but no sound. I bought a VGA cable, connected it to my xbox, linked to red and white cables to the ones on the back of my TV (There were a lot of inputs), and to my surprise, there wasn't an HDMI input!

To my knwoledge, you need to plug in the inputs and the HDMI in for it to work. I've tried turning on my xbox, and nothing happaned on the screen.

Do I need something else? Is a VGA cable not what I need?

I was told at the store that my tv screen is actually a PC monitor and can be used for PC's. for that reason, it should have an HDMI, but it dosent!

Any help is appreciated,

I think you're a little confused, and you're confusing us with your confusion.

If you got the VGA cable specifically for the 360 then you should have everything you need as long as you have a VGA input on your TV/monitor. Most TVs have a special audio input when you connect via VGA or DVI cables. The audio input will look like a headphone jack. If you got the VGA cable for the 360, then you should have also gotten a adapter to connect the Red and White audio cables to so it becomes a 3.5mm audio jack.

If your TV does not have this audio input, check your TV manual to see if there is a specefic input for the Red and White cables while using a VGA source.

HDMI is completely seperate AV cable that can transfer both Video and audio in one cable. Not all Xbox 360s have a HDMI output and not all HDTVs have a HDMI input. If you don't have an HDMI port on either the TV or 360, then VGA would be your next best cable for quality.

a vga cable dosnt carry a audio signal so youll have to have a digital audio out but if you got a hdmi from your tv to your xbox it will carry both audio and video

It sounds somewhat low. yet in spite of this it relies upon on the situation of the products. i could sell it for a minimum of $2000 if all of it is in solid situation. (the video games themselves are in all probability properly worth $1500.) P.S. i could have an interest interior the Wii tho. (+ video games) :)
