While LED-backlit LCDs are a major improvement over conventional CCFL-backlit LCDs, a good plasma, like a Pioneer or Panasonic, still has the edge. Plasma can still offer better black level and color purity, and a LED backlight can do nothing about viewing angles or motion blur / slow response time.

I would have to say that the plasma's are definitely better when it comes to contrast ratio simply because the screen still has a backlight on the LED.
Although the technology has improved from the original LCD the plasma definitely wins when it comes to contrast ratio. And also as far as the refresh rate on a top of the line plasma is something like .001ms whereas an LED is around 1-2ms. The refresh rate (in terms of hertz) on a Samsung LED is around 240hz whereas on a plasma it is around 600hz which is quite a noticeable difference in my opinion.
The other point that I argue is that for the size and money the plasma wins hands down. You can get a bigger screen for less than the cost of the LED.

There are two types of samsung LED tv.
1) an LCD screen that uses LED lighting
2) a screen that uses LED's to actually produce the image
Both have better contrast and colour reproduction than top end plasmas. Of these only the top end models have a faster refresh rate (200hz)
In my opinion the LED tv's (series 7-9) are the best on the market right now.

Both have excellent picture quality but plasma still have better response, smother motion cause plasma have 600Hz and extremely fast 0.001 response time while the best LED 240Hz and 2ms response time
unless you want one that save power consumption then Samsung LCD LED HDTV is a better choice cause it is use 40% less power consumption than other HDTV.
