To receive Freeview HD channels you will need a Freeview HD set top box

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Humax-HD-FOX-T2-Freeview-STB/dp/B0036TGN8K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1271371712&sr=8-1

The Freeview built into your TV will give you standard definition Freeview channels only, even though the TV is HD ready it is incapable on it's own of receiving HD broadcasts

Tv's with built-in Freeview HD are newly on the market are are clearly marked with Freeview HD logo

Hope this makes things clearer

HD ready means you need a compatible box like a sky or virgin HD box to get HD channels, I found that just by having a full HD tv the picture quality is as good on freeview as it is when I put it on my freesat box on an HD channel, so just go for full HD and make sure it is 1080i not 1080p

There is a difference between HD Ready TV and Freeview HD TV. http://bit.ly/bov4yi

The tuner inside your TV will only recognise Freeview standard definition channels (DVB-T) because the new HD channels use a new broadcast technology (DVB-T2). So you will need to get a new Freeview HD box that recognises the HD signal.

Here's a good round up from CNet of all the boxes available and coming soon http://bit.ly/bQgtV5

You could try Freesat, but that requires a dish and an installation fee...
