I'm trying to get some input from reviews on t.v.'s and opinions from people on a 52 inch lcd t.v. I been looking at Sharp Aquos cause I've read some great reviews about them. I wanted 1080p with 120hz frame refresh rate. I been looking on Tiger Direct and Buy.com cause they have some pretty good prices. Here is the t.v. I been looking at http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3391317&csid=ITD&body=MAIN#detailspecs. Any feelings on the Sharp Aquos? Negative or Positive, please tell cause for the money that I am spending I want honest opinions, cause like everyone, I want a great t.v.. And if not a Sharp Aquos, then other brands that seem great? I'm really only interested in getting a 52 inch. Send me a link if you may recommend a different t.v.

The contrast ratio is only 10,000 to 1.

The blacks are not the blackest.

It's not the best T.V., but it is a pretty good TV. However I think the Samsung or Sony Bravia are better.

The Bravia is the best TV I've seen yet. But it is also the most expensive with common brands.

It has a 30,000 to 1 Contrast Ratio. And also a 120HZ refresh rate. It is awesome:

I found it for $1700 here:

Also look at the Samsung.

The Contrast Ratio is very important. It is the difference between a bright clear screen and a not so sharp one.

I would expect good to slightly better than good picture quality with that model. But I wouldn't expect great quality. I think for in and around that price you could get a better quality set.

Ignore the comment about contrast ratio. Each manufacturer and measure contrast ratio how they like. So its a joke of a tech spec. Until the standardize the measurement it doesn't do you a lot of good (except for comparing sets from the same manufacturer). And always ignore Dynamic Contrast ratios, those are just out right magical numbers from Narnia or someplace.

At the size you're looking at I would stick with Samsung frankly. You'll get the best picture quality bang-for-buck from them. Sony might give you picture quality in a similar ballpark but will over charge you for it. So unless the Sony is sale (in a big way), I'd avoid them.

Here's the Samsung LN52A650 from Amazon,

I'm looking at the March 2009 Consumer Reports ratings. Though the specific model Sharp you reference isn't listed, similar Sharps rank towards the bottoms in picture quality. Samsungs take the top 3 spots.

What about 50"? It's very close and plasmas are generally cheaper and are very good quality. I've linked to a top rated one in Consumer Reports, and it's cheaper then your Sharp.

As for sources on where to buy, I'm a big Amazon.com fan. Generally their prices are much lower then stores, they offer free delivery and often, no sales tax.

I would recommend Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color over Sharp.Excellent Picture.

I agree. My friend has the Sharp and the picture is not that good. I have the Samsung A950 and it is awesome. The sony is good as well.
