So I bought a 60 inch tv and I just recently got wow cable, most of my HD channels fit my full screen but I noticed some of them still don't, they leave two black bars on each side. I asked the technician and he said there wasn't anything he could do but I know there is because my parents SAME tv and cable box does not do this. All in all, how do I make ALL of my channels including non HD fit my entire screen? Please and thank you 😊

The TELEVISION, not the cable box, has a 'zoom' or 'aspect' button on the remote that will expand the image to fill the screen. Look for this while watching some standard def channel.

This expansion will distort the image. You may notice a 'fisheye' effect if the camera spins a bit as different parts of the image are magnified differently.

In truth - you should stop watching standard def. This video was designed over 70 years ago to fill a 9-inch screen. When you magnify it to a 60 inch high-res display, you notice lots of washed out colors, grain, noise, etc. that was bleeding edge many, many, many years ago.

Once you start watching HD - standard def looks 'wrong'.

Some channels are now doing that automatically, it's a new thing, I call it letterbox style, but I don't know what their real intentions are/why they would do that. You can go into your menu and use the zoom button to make the picture fill the entire screen, but keep in mind that you will lose the side of some of the shows. Unfortunately the new cable connections are set up to default like this, people with older cable connections and legacy cable boxes are not having this problem.
