Most televisions made today have some type of failure within 5 years. Repairs tend to be very expensive on flat panel TV's. Recommend reliable brands. Vizio isn't a manufacturer,I believe it's made by Samsung. Hit or miss reliability. Recommend a known reliable brand like Panasonic, although they all break.

Unlike Sony and Samsung - Vizio does not dicate the engineering or the quality of the parts. This gives them ... inconsistant lifetimes. A year ago a co-worker said his brother was taking defective Vizio's out of stores by the truck-load.

At the same time - we have a Vizio plasma that has been running 10 hrs a day for over a year in our office lobby.

So nobody can really tell you how long they will last.

Vizio is just a re-badged Yum cha TV make.

They are nothing more than warehouses and offices. They just buy TV’s from cheap China manufacturer’s maybe even TCL (China) and have the name “Vizio” put on the TV’s.

The quality of Vizio TV’s is highly variable. Some people have had them crap up in less than two years.

This is just a list of China manufacturer’s. Just to give an idea of how many there are and that any one of them or more could be supplying Vizio.

I bought my 42in plasma VIZIO in 2007 and it is surprisingly still in great condition. I do watch ALOT of tv, so to have it still running 9 years later is wonderful.

After doing more research I found that they are actually rated for 50,000 hours, not 20,000.

so if you watched TV for 10 hours a day it would last 5000 days or about 13 and a half years.

My son lasted about 3 years. It just went out about half an hour ago and we bought it in Aug. or Sept. of 2012.
