what is the correct way to connect a video player to a TV with a digital Box top?
I have a digital box top which works very well. However, I cannot work out how to make my video player-recorder work through the box top, which it should do. What am I doing wrong??????

coaxial to digital box input . coaxial from digital box output to video input .... video output to tv coaxial input . then retune video recorder. you should then have a button on remote to switch tv between digital and terrestrial and on your video digital will probably be on AV1

I am assuming when you say video player you mean a DVD player or a VCP (havent seen one in a while) or that you do not intend to record.

in that case the other people are right.

connect the output from the video player into the AUX input on your tv. then use the tv remote to switch between regular tv watching and the video player.

if it was a vcr and you wanted to be able to record, you would hook the output from the digital box to the input of the vcr

and then the output from the vcr to the tv

you always get better picture quality if you avoid using coax cable connections. when you do that it causes the signal to be modulated to go on channel 3, and then run through the TV tuner.

I hope this makes sense

The best option is to get a TV with multiple video inputs.

Use your tv remote to switch between the video input.

If not consider connecting your set top box video out to the

video in of the video recorder and connect the video out of the video recorder to the TV. ( you may also use ANTena/RF out of video recorder if its there )

Enjoy.

I was just about to wake my husband to get a good way of putting this answer into words, but the previous answer does it!! Use your 'input' or 'AV'button on your TV remote till you can see on the screen what you want to record, then away you go!!

I HAVE A FEELING THAT YOU WANT TO RECORD FROM YOUR SET TOP BOX. IN THAT CASE FOLLOW THE ABOVE ADVICE...BUT YOU HAVE TO TUNE YOUR VCR TO CH. 3 OR 4 (WHICH EVER DOESN'T GET AN OVER THE AIR BROADCAST IN YOUR AREA) AND YOU HAVE TO SET THE TIMER ON BOTH MACHINES.
