Me, too. How frustrating! As of this morning, 6/17, it's still stuck. Downloads 24 updates and then keeps looping with the "searching for updates" message, then the logos of the smart apps and yahoo logo in the bottom right corner. Seems to be a Vizio problem from what I read here. Hope it's fixed soon.

Found a solution that seems to work for now. I tried navigating to the menu screen but the update would close the menu so I couldn't change anything fast enough before the updating would close the menu. So I noticed that when I turned the TV off and then ON again the menu would stay open a little longer before the updating would start flashing again. That pause was just long enough to be able to select "Factory Reset" after factory resetting the TV the updating stopped flashing, for now. Hopefully Vizio sends an update that fixes the problem but I'm not holding my breath.

the first thing I do with my vizio is to turn everything off and unplug it for about 5 minutes and then reattach everything and start it up. If that doesnt help it, then I call vizio. They have been extremely helpful. I have had small problems over the couple of years I have had two vizios in my house but have been lucky enough to figure out how to get around the problem. While I appreciated the cheaper cost, I wonder how long they will last and one cannot pick up the internet at all and so do not have netflix in my bedroom where I would use it a lot.

Hi all. Same issue here. Started last night 6/16.. I simply unplugged my ethernet cord from the tv and the annoying "updating" stopped. Then I plugged it back in and so far so good. If you are connected via wireless then simply reboot your router. On another note, I have an E-series 65" vizio and the vizio 42" 5.1 channel sound bar system. Picture & sound quality is 5 out of 5 stars, it's like being at the movie theater. However, the "smart tv" aspect of my tv is 0 out of 5 stars. Its garbage...pure trash. Only a couple apps worth using and they simply do not function well at all and they are out dated. I actually have my roku 3 connected to this tv to provide me with everything I need for a far superior experience. Yahoo and Vizio have destroyed any potential this tv ever had to be "smart".

I had the same problem, the menu kept going off! What I did was turn TV off...this gives you a little time with the menu...while in the menu go to network and then select WPS...let that load for about 7-10 seconds and hit OK to cancel. I did this and it has stopped the annoying and constant loading update BS, hopefully Vizio will get fixed so I can get reconnected to the internet again.

Are all of you Cox wifi by any chance? We had a Cox truck doing an update in the street today and then our Vizio went bonkers. We spent two hours on the phone with Cox and they were useless. We did unplug the router to reset the tv and it was fine for a while but went back to constant updates. Our playstation was effected too.

My tv has the all the logos on the bottom of the tv and are there even when the box is turned off. Started searching for updates last night kept flashing the logos across the bottom of the tv and then stayed there even though nothing opens up on Netflix or anything else. Tv works but you have to watch it with all that stuff across the bottom. Stay away from smart tvs

So happy to hear I am not the only one with this exact same problem. I was worried that I was about to have to buy a whole new TV! VIZIO needs to address this issue pronto! I disconnected my internet in order to be able to go into settings and turn off the the smart interactivity . Really sucks that I will not be able to use my Netflix on this tv!
?
2015-06-17 07:35:01 UTC
I turned off 'smart interactivity' in the system menu for now. I guess I will have to use my tv with Roku until they fix the issue. So good to know I didn't do anything to cause this. I wonder how long before Vizio or Yahoo get it all sorted out...annoyed!

This happened to me too last night 6/16 on my Vizio 50" smart TV. I called support and it is a wide spread problem nothing to do with our TVs. It seems to be on their end so they should have it resolved because they are inundated with people calling them etc. I would not do a factory reset as it will no help.

This totally sucks. I had a hard time playing Destiny last night because the update menu kept changing the aspect ratio of my screen so it was hard to aim my gun. Omnigul is hard enough as it is, much less a screen that keeps re-sizing because of an update malfunction. I turned my tv off several times, almost cursed several more times and finally it stopped trying to update.... still not sure why, but I was able to eliminate that wicked Omnigul. This morning it started doing the same thing... hopefully they get it fixed soon.

Same boat with our TV. Was this caused my a vizio update? So lame but I'll try to fix it. So far I've tried the whole unplugging TV and modem and it didn't work :( I'm so irritated I just turned off the smart tv feature and will try to fix it tomorrow.

Mine started doing this last night and it drove me crazy ughhh!!! They really need to work on this!! But I turned of my Router and unblocked the Internet modem for about 5 minutes I am sure you can do less. Turned everything back on and knock on wood so far so good!! All I had to do is go into Menu and Network, type in my Password and Netflix works fine and it stopped searching for updates!! Lets just HOPE that it stays that way! I feel you frustration!! Hope it helped some and it works for you as well!!

Unplug router, Go to TV menu, network, manual setup and disable DHCP then save. Check back tomorrow for Vizio update.
?

If you unplug your router you can access the menus. Then you need to reset the tv to factory settings. I actually had to do this twice because it had no sound the first time. Plug router back in for TV setup. Then will work normally. There is a step by step on the vizio support site.
?
2015-06-17 05:21:36 UTC
Mine's doing it too. Judging by these answers, it's happening to a hell of a lot of people so at the very least we know it isn't a problem with our specific TVs but with Vizio, at least there's that. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon, there goes my day of binging Orange is the New Black!
?
2015-06-17 17:38:26 UTC
Seems that it was a Yahoo problem...as if today about 1pm was told by Vizio tech support to shut down my TV for 20 seconds then turn it back on...which I did and the problem went away.
?
2015-06-17 09:08:34 UTC
The new update also spades the terms of service and you have to approve them to make it stop. Turn the tv off then turn back on and hit menu immediately and go into network settings, it will go off the screen and loading bar will come in bottom, when it goes away hit menu again and it will now show the option to approve the new terms. Check boxes and press okay and there will be no more problems.

How are you guys taking your TV's off wifi!? Mine won't even let me anywhere close to the Settings. My menu flashes for about half a second and then the rest of it just constantly says loading, or searching for updates. This is seriously annoying!!!
Side note: Has any of your TV's actually updated? Mine has 3 times already and still going strong. -_-

Mine started the same thing last night. 6/17/15. My tv is hard wired so I unplugged the networkk cord waited for a minute when the emu came up on the bottom I clicked on Netflix since it seem to default to that and it said there was no network connection. I plugged it back in and it stopped but in the morning it was doing it again so I went in and stopped the Smart Connectivity. We will see if that stops it but what a shame that you can t use the smart features you paid for...

This may seem like a lot but so far so good. I unplugged my modem while the TV is on, then I went into the menu, SystemReset&Admin and selected Rest TV to Factory Defaults. After I programmed everything back to how I had it, I went back into Reset & Admin and I turned off Smart Interactivity. So far so good. I hope they make it so this problem never reoccurs.

I took my internet off line for an hour.... Seems to solve the problem at least for now. :) on a side note every once in awhile this TV just turns off. Been like that from the beginning... It could go a month or a week until it does it. Can have it on 20 min... Hours ... Or all day... Doesn't seem to matter. Just random.

i found the solution that worked for me without going through factory reset. My tv was doing the same thing. I tried the wps cancel option. Did not work. After trying different things in the menu. Go to the menu. Then select the system option. Go all the way down to reset and admin and then down to smart interactivity and turn it off. As soon as i turned this off the auto updates stopped. I suppose you could turn it back on to check for updates in the future when you need to,But it has not happened since for me. Hope this helps.

Mine is doing the same - keeps saying its looking for updates then my apps flash at bottom they disappear then back to looking for updates. I unplugged it for 10mins to see if that helped and nothing same thing going on. Tried unplugging and holding the power button to power cycle it that didn't work either. Unplugged the router and modem nothing. Very quickly do a admin reset to factory defaults do not set up the network.
Only way I could kill it permanently after unplugging the network but couldn't kill the wifi.

A factory reset made it stop for me. It briefly did it again after the reset, but then it just stopped.

go to menu and scroll down to WPS and click on it. It will try to connect to wi-fi protected setup. just let it try to connect. it won't, but it stops the bullsh*t so far!
