I've used and watched a few LG TV's, plus know many ppl that one one and mostly their pretty good.In fact one of the makes that sells a lot of TV's is LG and they do make a lot of other products too.If you check around you'll find all kinds of different model sets and each manufacture will end up with some defective products.LG is currently close to the top on the list of TV manufactures that are known for quality TV's.For example Panasonic, Toshiba, Samsung ,LG/Vizio.

If you ask me when you're looking to purchase a TV in todays market you really have to take a few different factors into consideration. For example Step 1 might be making a list up of the different devices you'd want to connect to the TV, what inputs or outputs the set has to have and what for what functions etc the set should have to meet today's and in the future usage.Step 2 look online and maybe go to some stores that sell different makes /models and compare the features/specs of them.Step 3 read up about on the different make/models for example study/compare the customer and tech reviews.Step 4 compare the different manufactures models over all warranty and warranty coverage conditions. For example some retailers may require you to bring the defective product to them directly or they will require you to ship the set out to a service depo at your cost. Many are offering a third party warranty at cost of 20-60 dollars for different lengths of time such as 2-3 yrs etc.Note the same company handles most of the third party extended warranty policies and one might be they come to your home to repair any set thats over 32 inches. The catch being you purchased a 40 inch set with the third party extended warranty but when it comes to using the warranty suddenly they tell you that the amount you spent on the set itself isn't within their home repair policies guide lines lol.Meaning you got to pay to have it shipped to them for any warranty work to be done.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way what I always recommend is if your going to spend money on a electronic device like a new TV you really need to do your home work and if it's a big ticket item spend time to study up on it.Check into the factory, retailer and third party warranties, plus try to get the best warranty possible even if it costs you a few bucks extra.

I have three LG Smart TVs. The Smart TV software is great but the picture quality is eh. The lower budget sets do not get as bright as other TVs in their price range.

Most people consider them good, yet the last two I purchased were defective out of the box (different models, different times, different defect). So my take it, if you are going to buy an LG - buy it locally vs. online.
