Hello nice people,

I bought a wile ago a Samsung Plasma 51'' Series 4 TV. The model is PS51E450. Now I want to have a wifi (or internet at all) connection on it, so I can watch Netflix and the like on my TV.

I am not especially technology savvy so detailed explanations and step by step instructions would be wonderful.

I read online that my TV is "wi fi ready" which means that the TV has the option of working wifi if there is connected adapter (or was it dongle?) produced by Samsung. I called PC World shop where I bought the TV and they don't have those. Where can I find them?

And if it's a problem, how else would I be able to connect my TV to the internet? If wifi is not an option I can live with cables too, but what kind of cables and how to make it work?
The TV has USB, 2 HDMI and Common Interface slots.

Any help?!
Martha

You CAN try to buy the dongle to use the internal apps.

But a better solution with more apps and more features (including free ones) are the small external box's called "media servers".

Call around your local electronics stores for a device called "Western Digital TV Play" ($70) or perhaps the Roku 3 box ($99).

I had to spend about $80 for the dongle for a wifi enabled BluRay player. It gave me ... 8 apps.

I later bought one of the Western Digital box's for $99 and the experience is much better, I have 27 apps and I can play most computer files from a USB flash drive, USB hard drive or simply stream wirelessly from my PC.

So you get a LOT more value from the external box's for not much more money than the cost of the dongle. All you need is a HDMI cable to hook it up.

I like the Western Digital box but a lot of people love their Roku 3 devices.

Check these out before you buy.

Just put Samsung wifi dongle into a search and it will come up. A wired connection will provide a stronger and more stable connection. You'd need the same type cable you connect your computer into your router. Run that cable out of the router into the matching input on your tv. Check your owner's manual to be sure you have the internet input on your tv and what services it allows.

Getting a smart blu ray and hooking that to your tv will work instead if your tv has any limitations as it's old.

Hi Martha,

Your TV is not Wi-Fi ready and does not support an Ethernet LAN connection (wired connection). Your TV also does not support Smart Hub (which means there are no applications available for you to use). You can view the full tech specs for your model in the link below.

better watch a movie, than read a written book.Of course,it is better to get an improved picture by watching the action(images),then looking at all these words.

Whenever you read a publication you start to see the story how you want to assume it not what sort of director wants you to see it
