Thinking of ditching cable for apple tv but confused on a couple things. Number one, how much are the tv channel subscription? And number two, how can you watch live tv without a cable service provider? please help

The Apple TV is not a subscription service, at least not the way you are thinking about it. It has the various apps, like Hulu, Netflix, etc but those are their own individual services that require their own individual payments.
A lot of the channels have their own apps as well but you need to be subscribed to a cable/satellite provider to use those, so its more a compliment than a replacement.

You cannot.
The media streamers (Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire) let you access INTERNET services on your TV in addition to your antenna or cable or sat service. AppleTV does NOT replace your cable subscription.

You can't. Apple TV cannot be used to watch live TV. You'll have to buy an antenna (if you live close to a large city) or subscribe to a cable or satellite service.
