I have phone, internet and digital cable thru Comcast. Everything works except for my bedroom cable TV. It shuts off every 5 minutes and gives me the "one moment please" message, but will never ever go back on again unless I unplug the cable box and plug it back in. When it was initially hooked up, the guy said I had a really good, strong signal. Stronger than most. The downstairs cable (with DVR) never goes off. When I call about it, they say they have no idea and have to send someone out. I've had techs out before in previous townhouses and they've never done anything but unplug the cable. Also, I just can't afford to pay for their visit if it's a problem with the wiring or something. The phone tech said I could try replacing the cable box, but when I asked if he really thought that would help, he said he didn't think so. Can anyone help me? This has been happening for months. Every. Five. Minutes!

What you're describing is a fault in the Comcast receiver in your bedroom. I'd insist that it be replaced.

I had a similar annoyance with Comcast, also for months. The Internet would drop out for 5 minutes, 3 or 4 times per day. Comcast said it was my computer. It wasn't. I solved the problem by canceling Comcast and shifting everything to AT&T U-Verse. No more dropouts. Also less money.

No I'm sorry I don't even have comcast and on demand on my home tv. I would have been paying to watch television and I refuse to do that. I will stick with my free programming with my converter box which was also free after coupon.

He is correct have the tech replace the box but to be safe have him put his signal meter on the cable in the room and watch it for 5-10 min or within the avg it would go out.I have seen signals fluctuate before and it can be frustrating to catch so if it stays solid on his meter for 15min than its just the box.

It's not your signal, it's their cable box. It's broken and they should replace it. You shouldn't be paying them anything for THEIR problem.
