We went to purchase an LCD tonite, but the sales guy said the new Plazma's are now better than the LCD. I have to say, the picture looked a little darker and more color. The prices on the Samsung's and LG's for the Plazma's are also a little less, but not much. Any thoughts on the new Plazma's? Thanks!!!

its hard to decide, i was having the same trouble as you and ended going with a plasma.

the lcd's, as said by the other users, have a much better picture quality. but the bad thing is that since its an lcd screen, there will be one day where u will notice a black dot(s) in the screen and to me its just very annoying lol. but ive heard this can be fixed but needs to be sent to the manufacturer.

the plasmas, they do not have that lcd problem since its mainly made of gas. the picture quality is somewhat a bit less than that of an lcd and you can get a plasma buch bigger than a lcd for similar prices. if you have a close eye on the plasma and lcd.. u will notice the plasma picture is a bit blury. one other problem of plasmas is that if the image doesnt move over X time, the image will "burn" into the screen. but alot of the new plasmas have a setting on the menu where it will "shift" the image every 20 seconds i think. but it moves it very little and its almost not noticable at all imo. they also come with other settings that try to fix the "burned" image in the screen. mine has one that turns the screen all white or turns the colors to negative every 30 mins i think.

both are great and each one has its ups and downs.

if you want to have the best picture quality, lcd is better.

if you want to have a bigger screen and not worry about black spots later on in the screen, plasma is better.

There are still a lot of problems with plasmas such as the fact they have to be kept upright at all times and when the tv goes out it cannot be fixed. You will get a nice and bigger picture for your money but when investing in a plasma you may want to think about protection plans. The best LCD they have out right now is the Samsung 650 1080p with a 50,000/1 contrast ratio, it's like your watching bluray everytime you turn on your tv. Plus they have the swivel stands.

and they have pretty much fixed the plasmas so they will no longer burn the picture into the screen and it works the same way a screen saver for your computer works. If you have any questions you can e-mail me anytime.

LCDs at the instant are not retaining up with plasma. i think of no rely how massive LCDs get, plasmas would be extra effective. not some time past the biggest LCDs have been contained in the 35" variety, now they're contained in the 40 5" variety. even although, plasmas are starting to be to be as extreme as 70". as quickly as you get to 50", rear-projection television get fee and weight effectual. (those massive plasmas are heavy and use extremely some power.)

Personally, I like LCD's better. This is because LCD's are brighter, very colorful still, and if you have a DVR, you want LCD because if you pause and leave it paused for hours by mistake, it won't burn in the picture like Plasma would. The other thing is Plasma's are supposed to be better for sports or real fast moving events like football, etc. LCD's are better for movies because they are more bright and colorful. Either one you choose, I am sure you will be happy with, but tech editors have been saying LCD's are the better deal. Hope this helps!

The face of a plasma reflects light. If you're putting the TV in a brightly lit room it's hard to see the images on the screen.

I agree with Ron. I have a Plasma, but I'm constantly worried about burn-in. Get an LCD, but get one with a high constrast ratio.
