How can I get Sharp to replace an Aquos LCD with obvious banding problems? I call them-they deny the problem.?

Several things. When I purchased my Plasma, if I had a problem I would have to go back to the store (Best Buy). Try contacting Costco, instead of sharp. Also, make sure that the tv still is under the manufacterers warranty. If its past the date then they can't do anything. If worst comes to worst, you can still contact the Better Business Bureau or the Consumer Affairs Bureau and file a complaint. Maybe they can do something to solve your problem.

How long have you had it? Costco has a 90 no-questions-asked return policy. Return it, if within 90 days (!) or check with Costco on repair.
Unfortunately, Sharp LCD has had banding problems, and, from what I've read, the factory is not very responsive, or apparently interested in fixing it. This is a real caveat for potential Sharp buyers!

I sure hope lots and lots of people read Edward B's response, those who run out to the discount places to buy because they can save a few bucks over the local dealer (the mom and pop stores) can't seem to believe something had to be removed from the plan for the price to be soooooo cheap. Like a warranty, like service after the sale. when you buy based on price alone then this is what you get. In defense of Sharp, they tried to compete in a huge market and they had to make a decision and that decision was to cut expense, and the consumer was the guy who has given up something.
I've heard of situations where the mfg would ask for the model and serial number and as soon as they recognized the set as a wally world or discount club. they just hang up. They don't even take the time to explain the set has no mfg. warranty because that's how the seller bought it from them and that's how they sell it.
Good Luck

Take the set back to Costco. That's where your problem is. Costco buys their sets WITHOUT factory warranty. If something goes wrong with the set, they simply replace it, and liquidate the scrapped sets. That is why they can sell their sets so cheaply. They have no factory warranty or back-up. Sears is the same way, except Sears will repair the set using their service network. From here, Sharp is "out of the loop". Costco must take care of it.
