Hopefully the television stations are within the limit of 40 miles as stated by the specifications of the LAVA antenna system. Not knowing what type of antennas you have already tried, you need to install this antenna on the roof and preferably on a mast. I use an 8 Bay Bow Tie antenna with a Channel Master preamp on a mast about 30 ft. high and I receive around 40 stations, including the sub-channels, from a distance of 75 miles away. See link below.

get a longer piece of pipe and hold down wires boost your antenna up higher into the air, the antenna will be able to see further over the horizon to see more distant stations. note that you are attempting to do what the tv stations cannot provide, that is longer range broadcasts, there is a huge difference between the new and old systems as to distance of the signals transmitted

Why don't you buy a Standard Definition TV converter box.. you'd be able to view the extra stations for free... Or you can just go out and upgrade your tv to one that has a SDTV tuner.. hook up the antenna and enjoy!!!!! Don't worry about affording cable.. it's a waste of money... You're smart!
