if you used it a lot, dust sometimes get on the laser reader, you can clean this by using an air duster, buy one from any big tescos store or mappins, use it on my dvd,cd players, the laser attracts dust over time and use.

Hello, unfortunately this brand is notorious for having difficulty with certain DVDs. It is a fault with the units themselves. Modern DVDs will often play all types of DVDs and will do so without any distortion or problems.

Would it be possible to return the unit and request another brand, or maybe a refund?

I hope you find an acceptable solution.

Sorry to say the lazer on the dvd is on its way out, you probably have about another month before it stops working completely. Cleaning it will not help. The cheaper supermarket home brand Tv's with DVD built in are notoriouse for exactly the problem you are experiencing. No fix on this one.

dvd players and dvd.s are formatted to operate or play within global regions. if you look closely on your dvd player or dvd you should see that it will have a region code, the link should help you to understand. with this knowledge in hand most people purchase "multi region" players, to avoid this situation
