What would cause a tv to come on and you turn it off and then 15 minutes later it comes back on. It has done that 5 times. It gets turned off and then comes back on. Is there a ghost in the house or what Have to get up in the night to turn it off when it was turned off It would come back on

Find the remote control window* on the TV and block it with something (cardboard or whatever). If this stops the problem you have have something sending out stray IR signals that are confusing the TV. Compact florescent lights and remote controls that are stuck somewhere with buttons mashed down are two possible sources of stray IR signals.

If that's not the problem, you might just plug the TV into a power strip and use it to turn the power off to the TV when you go to bed.

It's unlikely there is a ghost playing with you. But if the circuits in the TV that process the remote signals are corrupted, cutting the power for a while might let them reset themselves.

* Common remote controls use pulses of infrared ("IR") light to send commands to the TV. The IR receiver on the TV is usually behind a small "window" of reddish plastic.

Some TV's have a clock built in & if it has been set it may activate the TV. Have a word with the dealer if you can't find it in the book of instructions. I have a "Hinari" that was bought in 1989 (still works perfectly) but switches itself on despite not technically being able to! My only solution is to turn it off at the plug. Fortunately it's in the spare bedroom so it's no real problem!

I have a ghost in my house that does that to me from time to time... Hey... I'm serious.. it's the spirit of a dead relative who I was close to in life and everyonce in a while he comes around and turns the TV on.. I can always tell when it's him because the cats go nuts.
