Your tv should have an HDMI input and your blu ray should have an HDMI output. That connection would be best. You can buy an HDMI cable for $10 or less.

If your tv has only component red/green/blue video, and no HDMI, then buy a component cable with the red/green/blue video + red/white audio. And use that. They cost no more than $10 also.

The red/white audio with yellow video that came with your blu ray is standard definition only, so it's useless for an HD tv (assuming your samsung is HD).

Red and White are usually left and right stereo audio.

Yellow is composite video

RGB is the coding for the 3 coloured guns that make up a TV picture.

You cannot therefore take the red and white signals to the TV - it is requiring RGB input - composite video is a different signal.

If the TV has a EUROSCART plug on it - you can get a red/white/yellow phono to scart cable - this is the usual way to connect modern TVs from a phone output.

Or an adaptor:

The Samsung would do everything the Sony would do in your case the Samsung would connect better being capable of using BD-Wise to optimize the best picture possible as well as using one remote to control everything. If you think about it why did you buy a Samsung tv instead of a Sony maybe because it had a better picture?

your blu ray OUT jacks.....composite.

your tv IN jacks.................component.

so you should buy a COMPOSITE to COMPONENT converter. (5 wires).

what is tv model.......is there another inputs?
