That remote...is it the TV remote or the universal remote/satellite/cable remote?
Get the TV remote, make sure it's controlling the TV set, not the cable/dvd/audio modes....now you should be able to access the TV and the TV's INPUTS....
If that doesn't work, UNPLUG the power cord for 5 minutes to reset the TV's micro. Then try it again.

Obviously you know you need to change the current input to the one where you have the signal plugged in on the tv.
They may have just jammed the system with all their playing. Try unplugging the tv for about 5 minutes and also while it's off, unplug the cables from the back of the tv. Then replug the cables into the tv, replug the tv into electricity and I think it will work again. At least you will be able to select inputs till the correct one comes up.
The unplugging in effect reboots the tv.

Try pushing the "input" button or "TV" button on the remote. It could have got switched over to another type of input

If after you've tried a number of things and it still doesn't work try taking out the batteries and then reinserting them. This should reset the remote. At least it worked for mine. Good luck.
