Dish and DirecTv are satellite TV providers, not cable companies. You may not be able to get them in an apartment. You might be able to get Comcast if it serves the area where your building is located. but it won't be the cheapest option--I dropped Comcast myself 4 years ago mainly due to their outrageous fees and constant price increases.

Many apartment complexes provide a type of pay-TV service at a discounted rate, i.e. a common satellite system the distributes TV channels to each apartment. Check with your apartment's property manager.

Otherwise, in metro Atlanta, you will probably be able to get TV channels over the air with a good indoor antenna. You can get the Internet via DSL on your phone line. Those would be the cheapest options, and you've stated that's a primary goal. It's what I would do in your circumstances.

Previous answers are correct - check with the building to see what is available.

I want to suggest you AVOID comcast. Lots of technical & customer service problems.

But - cable often lets you pay month-to-month while the Sat companies want a 2 year commitment. Cable might be a better option for you.

I'd say Directv cheap and fairly simple, and you get a lot of good channels like AMC, Comedy Central, most of the sports channels, History (whatever you watch) without having to pay extra, and they'll give you free channels every now and again for being a loyal customer. if you can't have a satellite dish put in at ur apartment, then definitely Xfinity(Comcast)
