no plasma TV's are the ones that burn out, the only problem with older LD tv's was that the bulbs began to dim after a few years but replacements bulbs are cheap and newer LCD TV's dont have a burn out problem, the life has been extended to 25 years and by that time you will probably own another TV

I do believe it is actually the very expensive plasma televisions that only have an average life span of 7 years some even less . I'm not sure about Lcd.

Any TV can break, bu tlike anything else, if you get a good one (Panasonic or Sharp) it should last a long time. If you're worried, buy the extended warranty but that is expensive. Personally I think you are better off with a plasma TV.

it can be replaced, if you have the service contract with it when you fill out the on-line registration
