LCD: Liquid crystal display television is, as indicated by its name.

LCD will last longer than a Plasma.

Although a lot of newer plasmas have a 1/2 life of 60,000.00 hours.

Plasma TVs are bigger than LCD.

Plasma has a higer contrast ratio (deeper blacks)

LCD is a liquid crystal display.

Plasma is a gas based technology.

They both actually have about the same life span which is roughly 60,000 hours.

The plasma will give you a brighter picture with a little better quaility.

But the price on plasma is pretty high compared to LCD.

I would go with a LG brand. They are the best in the market today.

lcds are better, but have lower contrast ration than plasma,

both are lesser than DLP sets, also you can get a bigger plasma at a cheaper price than lcd.

I don't know the technical differences, but I know there are big price differences. Plasmas cost a lot more.
