My TV is HD and as the standard built in freeview. When i searched what the channel was to watch ITV 1 in HD it said 103, when i tried to go to channel 103 there was no channel so it didn't switch.

What can i do to get the HD channels?

You need to have a DVB-T2 tuner to get HD channels. That means a Freeview HD STB, or if you prefer a DVR, a Freeview HD+ STB.

I'm having trouble understanding your question. If you have a high def television you should be picking up all the HD channels in your area. The type of signal being broadcast should be diplayed on the screen when you press the "info" button on your remote control. There are 3 types of resolution on free TV. 480p is the old standard. 720p is high def, and 1080i which is the highest possible definition on broadcast TV at this time. I live in the bay area in California and I pick up at least a dozen channels in 1080i. About 30 in 720p and the rest of them in 480p. I think you're not understanding your set or something. TVs don't tell you what channels are high def. They just tell you what signals you're picking up. You won't know what the resolution is until you're on the channel. Maybe you should look at the manual of your T V and if you don't have it, you can easily find it on line.

Just because you have a HD TV doesn't mean that it has HD freeview built in. My 22 inch full hd Toshiba doesn't. Some TVs do and some don't. You could have a look online at your TV model and see if it says built in freeview or built in freeview HD. If the HD channels are not already there, it is unlikely that your TV has freeview HD. It's easiest just to get a freeview HD box. They don't cost too much.

This one is the cheapest freeview HD I can find.

This one is freeview + HD. It really looks like a bargain. It even goes online to for catch up.

Hope I helped. Please comment.

You are going to ought to get a excessive definition freeview field because the one developed in to your television is regular def. I don't believe there are a lot of excessive def. Programmes but on freeview, You really want satellite for high def.
