i work in electonics at sams. plasma does where out quick (the cheaper ones) some of the newer ones advertise a 60,000 hour panel life but cost more. the prelit charge uses less electricity to light it up. causing less heat up and burn in. the best for a gamer is lcd ptv thats (liquid crystal display prjection tv) although the plasmas will give a clearer picture an lcd ptv is repairable. and has no burn in . you can replace the bulb for about 250-300$ either that or a whole new plasma tv every couple years unless you buy one of the more expensive ones.

just get one that has hd(true hd 1080i), after that it really doesn't matter(1080p still has bugs in it)

Pros and cons for both,,,,,,,,,Plasma has a much faster refresh/redraw rate than LCD which allows for better deatil in action , Plasma @ about 4 microseconds and LCD @ about 20. LCD is improving and some highend LCD have broken the 10 microsecond barrier

PLasma does not last as long as LCD

I can't find the source again, but I read only a few weeks ago that LCD last longer and consume less energy.
