Best Buy Extended Warranty Question?

I bought a Samsung 40 inch LCD last year for $1699.00 from Best Buy, I also purchased the extended warranty. I had tech come out last week to look at the tv and he calls me yesterday stating that the tv can't be fixed and that Best Buy will do an exchange. Now for my question. How does this work? I have gotten two different answers, one from corpoarte where they say i get a store credit for the price of the tv i purchased which was $1699, when i go to the store they say i get a comparable tv with are currently running at $1100, so who is correct? Is the store trying to jerk me around?

Thanks in advance

IT DEPENDS.....

IF your TV is still under manufacturer's warranty, then they exchange it for the same type of TV set....

IF your TV is under the Extended warranty when you brought it in for service, they will generally give you the Price of the TV set so you can get another one.....

I believe your Extended Warranty company is NEW (National Electronic Warranty Co.) ...you should call them directly IF your TV set was OVER 1 year old when you brought it to Best Buy to have it serviced.... Ask them how they take care of you.

The odd thing is Samsung should have parts to repair your TV set....so maybe the part costs more than the TV does.....Bad display panel would do it in.

I worked at Best Buy. It really depends on the person. Sometimes we'd do exchanges for stuff based on how much the previous item cost (in your case, a $1699.00 television would be switched out with a $1699.00 television). Sometimes we just do what would have been about the same model as your old television, which I think would've had been fair.

Haha sometimes we've even exchanged the item when the person didn't have any warrenty, but was a common enough costumer that we gave him/her some leighway.

I agree with fei... i currently work there and honestly (sad to say) it depends on the customer's attitude. Usually (i would say 80% of the time) we find something comparable to you current tv (at least i have since i work in the geek squad and we have to usually test the tvs and help customer service with it) Sometimes if your are nice they will let you have the value of your money for it. Its usually a toss up and depends on your store too i guess (like i said my store usually does like technology) Good Luck!

1100.

The value of the trade in goes down. Get in before the month change.
