Can you use a splitter to split a satellite signal to go to a tv that do not have a converter box attached?

I am trying to split my tv satellite signal for my granddaughter's room. Since she only visits 2x each month, it is not worth extra expense of adding another converter box. I just want the antennae hookup and I can control the channels from the other tv with the converter box attached. I used to split a cable signal, but I have been told that a satellite signal is quite different from a cable signal and the satellite signal cannot be split.I will split it from the tv with the converter box. What do you think? Will this work before I go buy more coaxial cable?

Here is my understanding of how this will work, if you split the cable coming from the receiver to go to two different tv's then it will work the only problem is the channels can only be changed by the receiver thus creating more of a dual cloning of tv's kinda like at the retailers (many tv's showing the same picture). And as for the claims of satellite being different than cable this is true but only in one aspect, with cable you can split as many wires and have them go to many different tv's without a problem, but with satellite you would need to have a receiver for each tv if you want to independently control what each tv is showing.

I just tried to do this on my system (I have Directv). The Directv folks told me that you cannot split a satellite signal like you can a cable signal. If you have a multi-line satellite (Dual LNB or higher), then what you do, is connect a separate line form the dish to the room you want it to go to. You will, however, have to get another receiver for that room. Craiglists is a good place to pick one up on the cheap.

You need two direct tv receivers if you want to watch different channels in different rooms. There is no kind of splitter that will perform that miracle for you.

On average I read 4 -5 literature a complete week. But if there is something excellent on TV i quickly will watch it
