I want to have a freeview plus box as the one i currently have doesnt let me record and only shows now and next programmes. Ive seen advertised the new freeview hd box. my tele is not hd ready - does that mean i cant have a hd freeview box?
Also what freeview plus box is best - my budget is about £100.
Thanks.

I've got a Digihome box that I have had for a few years now and it is just starting to play up and I have to reboot it about once a week. However, it has an 80gb.recordable memory and I have never filled up more than half the disc - it only cost £89 from Tesco so it was a good budget box. I am thinking of getting a Humax box as it was highly rated on the gadget show and if I do, I will get an HD box for when we get an HD TV. You ought to get a box that can record on two channels at once and that also has series record (just like the Sky boxes). Whatever you do, don't buy a TV with Freeview already installed as I have heard that they are a lot of trouble and don't always pick up all the channels that are available.

I would wait for the Freeview HD box. I can't believe it will cost £400. You can already get a Freesat HD for much less than that. It will have to be priced competitively.

EDIT - Bush make a Freeview HD set top box retailing for £99.

There a Digihome box in Argos for about £69-£89 with 40 hour recording time I have had it now for about four years no problem.

If you were willing to spend more a Freeveiw Plus HD box is being Released soon but its like £400.

try and get a freeview box with dvd writer and hard disk as you can then save films or programs easily, with an ordinary hard disk recorder it fills up quickly and you have to delete programs to record more

You can still use a FreeviewHD box on standard televisions, its just you will not be able to view the HD channels, which are only BBC & ITV1 at the moment
