I am trying to set up a Digital TV for a friend in a house that does not have a aerial on its roof. Is there some way i can set up a indoor aerial that will pick up digital TV stations. I have tried with a small aerial and it has not work. The house is in a area that i think must have bad reception and everyone has antenas on there roof and needs booster. Is there anyway i cant set it up so i dont need to up a aerail on the roof.

If everyone around you has large outdoor antennas and boosters, there is no way you are going to get a small indoor antenna to work.

The other responder missed the fact that you're not in the U.S. But no matter--the answer to your question is basically yes. Digital TV is a trade-off. You get HD and more channels in the same spectrum space, but it requires a stronger signal for solid reception. In the analog days, a weak signal was often still watchable, just snowy. With digital, a weak signal doesn't show up at all. If you are limited to an indoor antenna (aerial), there is no good news. In North America, there are *many* indoor antennas being touted that are about as useful for an antenna as a coathanger, if that. I assume the same is true in Europe. You might do some Internet checking for customer reviews of indoor antennas appropriate to the U.K., to find the best one available in your area. Seek out advice from competent technical sources in addition to antenna buyers. Once you find the best thing you can get, you might try it. But be prepared for the likelihood that no indoor antenna is going to completely satisfactory. Good luck.

Analogue tv will work on a weaker than normal signal, but you can forget it working on digital. So don't waste his money on an indoor aerial.

No. If everybody else needs a roof antenna, you will too.

Or switch to a pay provider like cable.
