I live within 25 miles of the major stations (meaning ABC, CBS, NBC, etc). I want to give one of these a try (or maybe try both?). Both have received good reviews. Is there anyone that has tried both and has found one to be better than the other?

Here are the amazon descriptions for both of them:

I know that there is not supposed to be any such thing as an "HDTV" Antenna, but people seem to have had varied experiences with these two antennas.

Sorry, but I and numerous experts disagree with the other answer. I own and have used a Terk HDTVa in multiple locations with multiple TVs, and it's simply not a high-performance antenna by any measure. It's especially poor with any VHF channel, since it only has the two telescoping rod elements for VHF, like a simple rabbit ears antenna. It does work fairly well with stations transmitting on UHF, but like any indoor antenna, you have to be relatively close to the transmitting towers, and you can't have major obstructions in the path, like hills, big buildings, etc. At 25 miles, the best you can expect with that antenna is "maybe" on UHF and "don't count on it" on VHF.

The Winegard SS-3000 has been endorsed by TV broadcast engineers and others with solid experience in this business as among the best indoor antennas you can buy, if not *the* best. If you cannot get decent reception with the SS-3000, you need an outdoor antenna.

You *might* be waiting to get good reception on an indoor antenna, given your reported situations. yet there is not any assure--you will no longer be attentive to until you attempt. Indoor antennas may be very disappointing on digital television. yet once you're dedicated to an indoor antenna, shop your self time, money, and trouble by having the single interior the reference under. that's the authentic %. of many authentic experts. See the Amazon comments. pay attention of decrease fee indoor antennas bought in decrease fee shops and categorised as "HD" or "digital." a lot of them artwork approximately as nicely as a coathanger, or worse.
