Hi have attempted to install a freesat box for my neighbour, have run the cables and put dish up but am not getting any sat signal. We then changed the lnb to a new one , still nothing. tried the box in mt house works great, rechecked all the fittings all are sound , with the outer cable not touching the inner cable ETC ect. Any ideas here , am I missing something.

Have tried resetting the box - that dint work
Have tried new installation it says cant find default transponder

How accurate must the angle of the dish be and what do the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 mean on the side of the lnb?

Any help at all would be appreciated

The dish has to be accurately positioned , also make sure it not in the line of sight of any tall buildings ,trees ect

Sounds like the dishs is not aligned - yes it need to be fairly accurately set up. if you can get your hands on the following:

1. compass - point dish in same direction as yours

2 inclinometer - measure angle of bar going to lnb on your dish and set up neighbours the same.

3. Satellite strenght meter - to fine tune dish settings. this connects temporarily between lnb and cable coming from receiver and indicates satellite strength.

also bring your box to the neighbours dish to see if it works.

markings on LNB are probably polarisatation - usually theres a mark that lines up with the numbers and you can change this by twissting he LNB. again copy what's on your own dish.

check there are no trees etc blocking the signal - to check place your eye at the bottom of the dish and look straight at the top of the LNB. This is where the dish is looking, make sure nothing's in the way.

take the plug out from the socket for 2 minutes, positioned the plug back in, then depart it for 2 minutes then turn it off. that's going to circulate to a sky studying channel......if this doesnt artwork then call a sky guy.
