Question:
Is Anybody having Problems With Their Sky Reception?

I have started getting a "no satalite signal is being recieved" message on various channels on Sky. The signal strength and quality are OK, acording to the system set up diagnostics. A call to Sky was ineffective and they suggested that I pay £60 odd to have an engineer out to look at the dish etc. I mentioned it to several workmates and it turns out they are having similar problems. Is this a scam by Sky to pull in some extra cash? I wonder if any one else has had problems over the past month or so?

first things first.

I doubt if sky is tryin to con you.

but you could ring them and say that you were going to cancel them, that should sound alarm bells with them.

next check if you have anthing obstructing your sat signal like trees etc.

get someone with a signal strength meter so set your dish to optimum..signal.

if still no joy then inform sky that you wish to cancel the chances are you will get a new box or free repair.

I have Sky multi room. On my Sky downstairs the picture and sound quality are terrible but they are fine upstairs.

I have also noticed the same that a lot of channels have a technical fault or no signal being received, I think you may be right about Sky tryiing to make an extra few quid, the bast@rds

Yes, having the same problem and was also told it would cost £60 to look at the dish. Sounds like a scam to me and getting fed up paying out for sky every month and not getting a good service.

Yes just the same in really bad weather. Other times when it rains hard, we get nothing on all channels, but if you choose separate entertainment or lifestyle etc they are there. Sky tells us it is because we are in a tough area - peak district, and trees in the way and so on. All excuses but I don't think they can solve it so I woudl not pay them anything without a written money back guarantee. (Which they woudl not commit to!)

Check whether they are free channels or channels you have to subscribe to in order to receive them If they are free channels then you have a problem, and you need a qualified person to either fix it or give you the information to do it yourself. I would make a note of all the channels it happens with and give sky another call with the info.

Sounds like an incorrect dish alinement, Pay the £60 then add skycare to your account (The insurance they offer) for about £8 a month then when it screws up again get skycare out and it will cost you £8 this repair :)

get this problem quite a lot in the winter,I think its due to severe weather /storms that we're having in winter time preventing the signal from getting through to the dish.Don't get any problems when there are no storms or severe weather
