I have 10 year old 27" CRT TV, Sony Trinitron Bought new in 1999 and worked great ever since until now. What happens is that power red LED is on, and when I puch power on button either on the TV or on remote, there is a click sound and standby LED, just below the power LED starts blinking, and that;s it. Looks like power on/off relay is damaged. Can you please advise if where to look for a fix, can I replace the relay unit. Thank you.

Sony tvs are supposed to give you the best picture possible. So they have added a circuit to monitor the picture tube red green and blue outputs and match them up to give you the best picture possible. During this calibration time there is no picture and the blinking light is letting you know a picture is coming soon. When it was new it could do this in a matter of seconds, but after awhile the correction circuits cannot match the three colors and then the picture is blanked and the blinking light is all you see. some times after a long time the picture may come on and work or start flipping on then off. This is normal for a bad picture tube.

The tube is too weak, get a new set.

this is often just a broken solder joint where the switch is attached to the circuit board

He's gotta stop watching adult movies, it's ruining the tv!
