It depends on a few things. First is the cost of the device that you are going to warranty and along with that what it will cost to replace. The second thing is how much is the extended warranty itself going to cost?
One thing to check before buying is are there any parts that will wear out in the unit, like a bulb for instance. A bulb for some of the newer HDTV's can be very expensive. If covered by the warranty, that alone may make it worth the price.
It can be good, but in many cases it is a waste of money.

9/10 you will never use the warranty and just waste money. I would only buy an extended warranty if it was something very expensive that would easily malfunction like a HDTV or some computers depending on model. Use your own judgment and if you don't feel like you need it don't bother a lot of times companies put a quota on their employees to sell the warranty's when it isn't needed.

Its really worth it if you are buying something expensive that you use alot.
