Question:
Advice on TV buying?

So I've already decided on either a 40 or 42 inch TV based on some measurements & preference. I have a max of $500 which a trip to Best Buy & Wal-Mart proved should be plenty. I have no internet (only web access is this android phone) so I don't think too much of Smart TV's.

I guess I'm just looking for advice on how to get something with a decent picture and that will last a good long while? Any general advice also appreciated. Thanks.

Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, Vizio, Toshiba, Hitachi, and Sharp.

If none of those fit your budget, save up more money until one of them does.

Brands: Samsung, Sharp, Panasonic, Sony, LG, or Vizio. Anything like Dynex, Magnavox, Huawei, RCA, Polaroid is just junk.

Get a 1080p TV, preferably a LED set but a regular LCD set is still OK.

Many 40" TVs are Smart TVs but you don't have to use those features.
